Do you want to define specific space in a large room without building new walls and doorways? You can easily accomplish this by adding decorative ceiling tiles to a portion of a room, creating what is called the “Area Rug” effect.
You can define dining space, an entertainment center area, an entryway, or even set off the kitchen in a fully open floor plan, by adding tiles to the section of the ceiling above the area you wish to differentiate.
This can be done by easily adding tiles directly to the section of ceiling above the space you wish to set off, or a more elaborate ceiling section can be constructed by adding a decorative-tiled drop ceiling, as in this beautiful example of dining space set off by a ceiling addition:
